The 2016 Brick Alley Block Party kicks off the 2016-2017 season this Saturday at the Garner Arts Center and its fall exhibit, "Transposing Perception." The event is part of Haverstraw's 400th anniversary celebration.
Artwork from Daniel Liss, Andrea Stanislav, Michael Zansky and others carefully examines the concept of “changing the relative place or normal order of things.” Their work will be displayed in the 8,000-square-foot Dye Works warehouse space.
Pappi's Mediterranean from Garrison will be on hand to provide the eats and arts center tenant Industrial Arts Brewing Company will provide draft brews before a DJ set from Photay starts after sundown.
Other artists expected to display their work or perform include: Carlye Eckert (site-specific dance), Vanessa Reyes (street art), Matt and Mark Enger (screen printing), Sarah Divi (installation art), and Ryan Roa (installation art) with more artists to be confirmed.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Photay's set will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, military, and students, and can be purchased at the door or online at garnerartscenter.org.Event sponsors include Rockland Music Center, Industrial Arts Brewing Company, Rivertown Magazine, Rockland County Tourism, I Love New York, Capital Scenic, Zugibe Vineyards, Oak Beverages, Orchard Hill Cider Mill while "Transposing Perception" is supported by Century 21 Full Service Realty.
Other local event sponsors include the Rockland County Legislature, the village of West Haverstraw, the town of Haverstraw, the Garnerville Arts & Industrial Center along with the State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and the State Legislature.
The Garner Arts Center is located at 55 W. Railroad Avenue in Garnerville.
