Two people were hospitalized after a head-on crash near the entrance to a middle school in the area.

It happened on Saturday, Nov. 30 at about 10 a.m. in Mahopac.

Mahopac Falls Fire, Heavy Rescue, EMS and Fire Police, in addition to multiple units from Carmel Police, EMStar paramedics and tow trucks responded to the crash on Baldwin Place Road in the area of the entrance to Mahopac Middle School, according to Jack Casey of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department.

First-arriving responders closed the road at Route 6N and Baldwin Place Road and at the entrance to the middle school, making it safe for EMS and RESCUE crews to work.

Chief Jeff Boyle took the role of Incident Command as Asst. Chief Dan Meury took on Operations with Capt. Jason Stasiak taking Scene Safety and Security.

Two patients were triaged by paramedics and Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department EMTs, with one motorist taken to Danbury Trauma and the other to Putnam Hospital Center.

Carmel Police officers kept a watchful eye out for the safety of all responders on the scene as they began their investigation.

With the two patients packaged and ready for transport, tow trucks were brought on the scene to remove the vehicles.

The road was closed for an hour as crews cleared the scene and headed back to headquarters.
