Darien Police responded to the area of Post Road on a report of an unresponsive male on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The man was treated and transported to Stamford Hospital for further evaluation, police say.

Detectives were called to the scene after police determined that the man’s symptoms were allegedly indicative of I.V. drug use.

A search warrant was obtained, and during its execution, police allegedly discovered several items containing trace amounts of opiate narcotics.

Officers also allegedly discovered several apparent “prop” firearms that mirror the noise and combustion of gunpowder from a real firearm but do not discharge an actual projectile when the trigger is depressed.

Multiple rounds and magazines for these prop firearms, as well as a BB/Pellet Gun, were also located, according to police.

The man, identified as Jeffery Davis, 64, is a convicted felon and is therefore prohibited from possessing any firearms, police say.

The discovery of these items prompted police to seek a warrant for Davis’ arrest. He turned himself in on Thursday, Oct. 31 and was charged with criminal possession of a firearm.

Davis was processed and released on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Nov. 7.
