A registered sex offender convicted of sexually abusing a teenage girl and boy has reported a move in Orange County.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 26-year-old Edward Thomas, who has moved to a residence on Hunt Road in Wallkill.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Thomas as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Thomas sexually abused his 14-year-old victim in September 2011, including "deviate sexual intercourse. He was convicted of second-degree sexual abuse in August last year and sentenced to time served - 147 days in jail - and six years probation. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Plattekill Town Police Department.
