According to reports, the abuse went on for more than six years, and the man was a friend of his victim’s family. The children were repeatedly abused in multiple locations throughout the Hudson Valley.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert regarding the residency of 50-year-old Brian Riker, who was reported a move in Orange County from Route 17M to Bloomingburg Road in Middletown.

Riker was convicted of forcing himself on a 12-year-old girl and 14-year old boy in 2001 and sexually abusing them. He pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy in 2004, when he admitted that he forced the children to cooperate by threatening to make them homeless.

He was sentenced to 18 years in prison on April 20, 2004.

Under the conditions of his release, Riker is not permitted Internet access, and cannot have a computer in his home. He is not permitted to have contact with his victims, consume alcohol, maintain employment and has a curfew. He is barred from having any contact with minors for the next five years.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Riker as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He was also designated as a sexual predator.
