A registered "predicate" sex offender convicted of raping a teenager in 2003 has reported a move in Orange County.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 36-year-old Maurice McHolder, who has moved to a residence on Carson Avenue in Newburgh.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned McHolder as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a predicate sex offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, McHolder had sexual intercourse with his 15-year-old victim in 2002 and was convicted of two counts of rape the following year, when he was sentenced to a term of between 18 months and three years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
