A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of using a weapon to have sexual contact with two children under the age of 5 has reported a move within Newburgh.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week regarding the residency of 64-year-old Alfred Hardy, who has moved from Ann Street to the Imperial Motel on Broadway.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Hardy as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Hardy had sexual contact and unlawfully imprisoned his 5-year-old female victim and a second victim who was less than a year old in July 1988. He "immediately and physically overpowered his victim, using a stabbing weapon. Hardy was convicted of first-degree aggravated sexual assault in October the following year and sentenced to a term of between 100 months and 25 years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
