NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The state-of-the-art playground at George M. Davis Elementary School in New Rochelle is open.
Board of Education President David Lacher, Trustee Rachel Relkin and Interim Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Korostoff joined Principal Michael Galland, buildings and grounds personnel and PTA leaders and students from Davis to cut the ribbon on the playground for the school recently.
Student representatives from Davis School were chosen to cut the ribbon alongside school leaders, with every grade level participating in the celebration.
"Once the opening ceremonies concluded, students hopped on board their shiny new facility, equipped with ladders, rings and other fun things to climb, as well as a special safety surface to ensure a soft landing," district representatives said.
The new playground is the result of "significant monies raised by the Davis PTA from the organization’s annual spring fundraiser," according to Davis PTA President Catherine Flood.
"The new facility is a welcome addition to the school and provides yet another source of recreation for Davis youngsters," district representatives said.
