NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- More than 100 local students took part in a recent civics symposium sponsored by the The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence.
The high school seniors, who are taking government and macroeconomics classes, prepared questions and took part in a panel discussion with local leaders at the Dec. 11 event.
On the #DemocracyIsNotASpectatorSport panel were: Timothy Idoni, Westchester County clerk; Noam Bramson, New Rochelle’s mayor; Alex Eodice, a professor at Iona College; Errol Louis, the host of NY1’s Inside City Hall and a CNN contributor; Dr. Clair Kramer Mills, assistant vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; and state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
Student presenters were: Naomi Lambert, Rebecca Meisler, Adam Landy, Gerry Chikoti, and William Kann.
