Officers attempted to stop a vehicle after observing a violation on Daly Avenue near the Minsi Trail Bridge around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 27, Bethlehem Police said.

The vehicle sped off as officers approached and was later located near the 1400 block of E. 9th St., police said.

Two men were then seen running from the vehicle, and a gunshot was heard in their area, police said.

Two of the suspects — Ramel Johnson and Qumir McNeil — were found a short time later with the third suspect, Frederick Marks, hiding out in a residential yard nearby, police said.

A Glock 43 9mm handgun was found in the area where one of the men was seen running from the vehicle, police said.

McNeil, the driver, was showing signs of intoxication and as a result was taken to the Northampton County DUI Center for additional testing, police said.

McNeil was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, fleeing and eluding police, escape, DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and additional summary traffic offenses.

Marks and Johnson were charged with loitering and prowling at nighttime.

Johnson faces additional charges for carrying a firearm without a license, escape and tampering with evidence.

The men are scheduled to appear in court.
