A man was shot and killed after police say he broke into an apartment in the area.
The incident happened just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 107 North Bridge Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.
City 911 received a call from the tenant reporting that two men armed with handguns attempted to rob him in his apartment., Det. Lt. Matt Clark said.
The caller reported he began fighting with the men, was able to get the gun away from one and shoot him, said Clark.
The second man then fled on foot, Clark said.
The man who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been yet identified.
The investigation is continuing, anyone with information is asked to call the City of Poughkeepsie Police at 845-451-7577.
