NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The search is on for the gunman that put a bullet in a man’s back late on Sunday night near Lincoln Park in New Rochelle.
According to police, an investigation is ongoing as they seek the suspect who began firing his weapon at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday in the vicinity of the park’s basketball courts.
One of the bullets struck the man in the back, who was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries. A second bullet, believed to be related to the first, went through a window at nearby Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, though no injuries were reported there.
The entire park was closed down to the public on Sunday as police investigated the area for evidence. Both motive, and whether or not the shooting was gang-related remains unclear.
