Najib M. Hood of New Rochelle was charged with second-degree burglary after being stopped by a Davenport Avenue resident who returned home to find that he was in her home early on Thursday morning.
After being approached by the woman at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, police said that Hood ran out of the home, sparking a police manhunt involving Canine and Aviation Units from the Westchester County Police that ultimately ended when Hood was surrounded behind a Rodman Oval home and brought into custody.
The incident forced nearby Trinity Elementary School and Isaac E. Young Middle School to enter their lockout protocols for approximately an hour.
Hood was awaiting arraignment on the burglary charge early on Friday afternoon at the New Rochelle Police Headquarters.
