Lightning Strike Rattles New Rochelle Family; No Injuries

NEW ROCHELLE, N. Y. -- No one was injured, but a lightning strike on a New Rochelle house Tuesday night appears to have started a small fire in the attic, according to News 12.

The homeowner said a lightning strike on her New Rochelle house Tuesday night sounded like a bomb, News 12 Westchester reports.

A woman and her son were in the house on Bon Air Avenue when the lighting hit around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Fire officials told News 12 that they aren't sure whether the lighting hit the house directly, or indirectly through a tree.

The homeowner said it sounded like a bomb, and then she and her son smelled smoke. Firefighters extinguished the fire in the attic, News 12 says.
