WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - An elderly woman sent a pedestrian waiting at a bus stop in New Rochelle to the hospital on Thursday after losing control of her car.
An 84-year-old driver lost control of her Toyota Camry while driving southbound on Webster Avenue on Thursday afternoon, crossing over the double yellow line, striking a fence, fire hydrant and bench before hitting a 60-year-old pedestrian waiting near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue, New Rochelle Police Det. Sgt. Myron Joseph said on Friday. The car came to a stop in nearby bushes.
After being struck, the pedestrian was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx in critical condition. The extent of her injuries was not immediately available. The crash is still under investigation, police noted.
