Domenic Procopio Is New Rochelle Thanksgiving Parade's Grand Marshal

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Valenti-New Rochelle Thanksgiving Parade is set to step off Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. with Domenic Procopio serving as grand marshal.

The 50th annual parade will start at North Avenue and Eastchester Road. Procopio is a local businessman and president of the Calabria Mutual Aid Society, "exemplifying a dynamic commitment to its Italian-American objectives and fund-raising efforts towards scholarships and relief efforts to those in distress," representatives with the city said.

Procopio also serves as Civil Service chairman of the City of New Rochelle and is also a member of the Heritage Lodge of the Order of the Sons of Italy, Knights of Columbus, and B.P.O. Elks. 

"In recognition of his distinguished contributions, Mr. Procopio has received numerous local, regional and international awards and honors, from community organizations including the PBA, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph's Church, Rotary, Boys and Girls Clubs, Whitney Radio, and Historical Association; regional, from Westchester County Board of legislators, Westchester Community College, and the Italian American Club of Northern Westchester; and national and international recognition as U.S. Representative for Calabria region; Premio Calabria-America; and the prestigious Cavailerato title from the Italian Government for contribution to the Italian culture in the United States," city representatives said in a press release. "Mr. Procopio has been married to his lovely wife, Jackie for 49 years and they have three children and eight grandchildren."
