NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Rich McCarty of the New Rochelle YMCA is asking organization members to be open minded to possible changes he may look to institute as he begins his tenure as the group's chief executive officer.

"First, be open to new things," McCarty said in a letter to the members. "Second, have a conversation with me rather than let your feelings gnaw at you."

The CEO said the YMCA's goal is to provide a great experience for all who come through the doors, particularly the people of New Rochelle, Pelham and Larchmont.

McCarty said his team will continue to focus on assisting with youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Noting the return of the organization's swimming pool, McCarty said many people have shown an eagerness for the YMCA swim team. He pledged to address recent concerns that have arisen about the building's lock rooms, but did not provide specific details.

Regarding other new or unique program ideas, McCarty urged the people of the community to come forward ready to discuss their thoughts.

"If you have ideas on programs, or would like to volunteer your services or would like to help fund our mission with a gift to the Annual Support Campaign, please get in touch with me or one of our great and dedicated staff members," he said.

Anyone wishing to contact McCarty can do so at the New Rochelle YMCA, 50 Weyman Ave., New Rochelle. His office telephone number is 914-632-1818.
