The American stage, television and film actress turns 51 Friday, Nov. 27.
She was born in New York City, but raised in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon.
According to Wikipedia, Givens began her acting career after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in 1984.
In 1986, she snagged a role on the ABC sitcom, “Head of the Class.”
After the series ended in 1991, she continued her career with film roles and guest spots on television, like the sitcom “Sparks.”
She also has had recurring roles on “The Game,” “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” and “Chuck.”
Givens penned an autobiography, “Grace Will Lead Me Home.”
According to Wikipedia, Givens has been married and divorced twice.
She wed boxer Mike Tyson in 1988, but the union ended in divorce the following year. She married tennis instructor Svetozar Marinkovic in 1997. This marriage lasted less than a year.
Givens adopted a son in 2000. She also has a child by her ex-boyfriend, tennis player Murphy Jensen.
