New Rochelle Library To Host Summer Reading Game Awards Parties

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Public Library will host end-of-summer awards parties for pre-schoolers and those entering kindergarten at 1 p.m. Tuesday and for children entering grades 1-5 at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The parties are open to children who completed the library's Summer Reading Game. Children's performer Kurt Gallagher will provide entertainment Tuesday while Wednesday's event will feature David Engel's Pirate School variety show. 

The Calpulli Mexican Dance Company will perform at 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at the library in the Ossie Davis Theater. Students enrolled in the library's Summer Mexican Dance Classes will participate in the performance. 

In other library news, the Children's Room now includes the following new titles:

  • "The Keys to the Kingdom: Lady Friday" by Garth Nix
  • "The Time-Travelling Cat" (Series) by Julia Jarman
  • "The Baseball Geeks Adventures" (Series) by David Aretha
  • "The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell" by Chris Colfer
  • "The Faceless Ones" by Derek Landy
  • "Smells Like Pirates" by Suzanne Selfors
  • "The Big One-Oh" by Dean Pitchford
  • "The Recess King" by Ellray Jakes
