Sunrise Highway Reopens After Crash

A stretch of the Sunrise Highway (Route 27) has reopened after a crash during the height of the evening commute on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The closure occurred eastbound in Suffolk County at Exit 54 and was reported just before 5 p.m.

Farther east, another stretch of Route 27 reopened between Stephen Hands Path and Baiting Hollow Road in Southampton after a closure due to a downed tree and wires. That incident occurred at 1 p.m.
