A crash is shutting down two lanes on the Long Island Expressway while a downed tree and wires have closed Route 27 in both directions early Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21.

Two lanes on the Long Island Expressway have reopened after an earlier crash a stretch of Route 27 remains closed in both directions due to a downed tree and wires have closed Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21.

The LIE crash, involving a truck that struck the overpass, losing some of its load in the roadway, occurred westbound in Commack near the Sagitkos Parkway and was reported just before 1 p.m.

The Route 27 closure is in East Hampton between Jericho Road and Cove Hollow Road in Southampton) and was reported at 1:15 p.m.
