Woman Loses Control Of Vehicle, Hits Nassau House, Gets Stuck In Stairwell

A 53-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly losing control of her vehicle and hitting a Long Island house, with the vehicle becoming stuck in the basement stairwell.

The crash took place around 10:15 p.m., Monday, March 1 on Thorne Drive, in Bethpage, said the Nassau County Police.

According to police, Eighth Precinct officers responded to a residence on Thorne Drive for an auto accident. Upon arrival, it was determined the vehicle left the roadway and struck a house. 

The vehicle was stuck in the basement stairwell and the driver was unable to exit the vehicle. 

The Nassau County Police Department Emergency Services Unit responded and with the assistance of the Bethpage Fire Department officers were able to create a pulley system with an attached wire harness and were able to safely remove the driver of the vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

After further investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Angela Wallace, 53, Tuscaloosa, Alabama had a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. 

She has been charged with multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions.
