Uniondale Man Holds Up Gas Station At Gunpoint For Pack Of Cigars, Police Say

A Nassau County man wanted a smoke when he allegedly held up a Valero gas station with a gun for a pack of cigars, Nassau County Police said.

The robbery took place around 8:35 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Valero gas station on Manor Parkway, said police.

According to detectives, Michael Ammino, 40, entered the gas station and approached the male store clerk and demanded a pack of cigars located behind the counter. 

Ammino then motioned towards his waistband and threatened to shoot the victim if he did not comply, police said.

The victim complied and  Ammino fled on foot northbound towards the Long Island Railroad Station with the cigars. 

Ammino was located by police a short time later and placed in custody without further incident.  There were no reported injuries.

He is being held on charges of robbery and menacing.
