It happened on Saturday, Aug. 17 just before 5 a.m., Nassau County Police announced on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

According to detectives, two male victims, ages 41 and 74, were walking southbound in Freeport in front of 23 Hanse Ave. when three unknown male subjects came from behind them, police said.

The suspects forcibly removed a wallet containing an unknown amount of US currency from one of the victims and attempted to forcibly remove a watch from the other victim unsuccessfully before fleeing on foot northbound on Hanse Avenue, according to police.

Both victims had redness and minor lacerations to their faces and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The three subjects are described as being black males in their 20s, police said. No further description of the subjects is available at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
