An armed suspect who allegedly stole a woman’s car at Whole Foods on Long Island has been apprehended, police said.

Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department responded to Whole Foods in Lake Grove on New Moriches Road shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, where there was a report of a woman whose car was stolen at gunpoint.

Police said that Stephanie Rodriguez was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked 2008 Chrysler Sebring when a man approached the vehicle and asked her for directions. The man then pointed a handgun at Rodriguez and told her to exit the vehicle.

Rodriguez, 23, of Lake Grove, exited the Chrysler and the man got into the driver’s seat and drove away.  Rodriguez was not injured in the incident.

An investigation with New York State Parole, Fourth Squad and Sixth Squad detectives led to the arrest of Shane Williams, of Shirley.

Williams, 28, was arrested at his home at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Williams was charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree grand Larceny. He is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, Oct. 19.
