A suspect is at large following the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old Long Island man.
It happened around 5:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 in East Patchogue.
Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct police officers responded to 555 Taylor Avenue after a 911 caller reported a possible gunshot victim outside the residence. When officers arrived, they discovered Tyrell D. Smith, of Shirley, had been shot.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
