Police are searching for two armed men who allegedly entered a Long Island home and attacked one of the residents before fleeing.

The incident took place around 4:40 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7 in Merrick on Beach Drive, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, two men, one armed with a handgun, entered a second-floor entrance to the Beach Drive home.

After confronting one of the residents, the men stated, “Give us your stuff.”

The victim grabbed the intruder's arm in an attempt to push away the gun and was punched in the face, police said.

After being able to free himself, the victim ran into another room. The commotion, which was heard by other occupants of the house, caused them all to retreat to the basement where they locked the door, called 911 and waited for police.

The men then fled the home without any proceeds.

The 20-year-old male victim who was punched in the face refused medical treatment.

The men are described as being:

  •  A white male, 6-foot, in his 20s with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a purple bandana that covered the lower part of his face.
  • The second man was Hispanic, 5-foot-11, in his 20s with a medium build. He also was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a purple bandana that covered the lower part of his face.

The investigation into this incident continues and detectives request anyone with information regarding it to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

All callers will remain anonymous.
