Police are investigating two robberies on Long Island that occurred within minutes of each other and could be connected.

The first robbery took place at 3:05 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, when a man walked into the 7-Eleven at 1320 5th Ave., in Bay Shore, and displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash from the employee, said the Suffolk County Police.

The employee complied and the man fled the scene.

The second robbery took place around 15 minutes later when a man entered the BP gas station at 660 Islip Ave. in Brentwood, and demanded cash from an employee at the counter, police said.

Once again, the employee complied and the man fled the scene.

Detectives believe both robberies may have been committed by the same man.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.

All calls will remain confidential.
