A 41-year-old man is dead and three others injured after a motorcycle crashed into a car overnight on the Northern State Parkway, state police said.

The crash occurred just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 1 on the westbound parkway, just west of exit 32 in the town of North Hempstead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Ducati motorcycle was traveling westbound on the Northern State Parkway at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear of a 2015 Acura which was also traveling westbound, according to state police.

The operator of the motorcycle, Rony Lopez, of Hollis, Queens was ejected and transported to Winthrop Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The operator of the Acura, Amara Mirza,  49, and the two occupants from Old Westbury, were taken to Winthrop Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision should contact State Police Troop "L" Headquarters at (631) 756-3300. All calls will remain confidential.
