A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car at a busy intersection on Long Island.
It happened just after 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19 in Elmont.
According to Nassau County Police Department detectives, while attempting to cross Linden Boulevard at 239th Street, the 72-year-old male pedestrian was struck by an eastbound 2017 Mercedes-Benz that was being operated by a 57-year-old man who remained at the scene.
As a result of the collision the pedestrian suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
