Man Who Flees Scene Of Accident Seriously Injured In New Crash With Tractor-Trailer In Nassau

A 56-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being involved in a pair of vehicle crashes on Long Island, police said.

Officers from the Nassau County Police Department responded to a vehicle crash on Boundary Avenue near the intersection of Bleaker Drive in North Massapequa at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Police said that the driver - whose name has not been released - was driving east on Boundary Avenue when he struck a tractor-trailer, leaving him with serious injuries that included facial fractures and a broken wrist.

The driver was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.

According to police, the subsequent investigation determined that the driver had been in a previous collision moments before he struck the tractor-trailer, where he had left the scene.

After receiving treatment for his injuries, police said that the driver was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an auto accident. No other injuries were reported.
