One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash that shut down two lanes of Route 109 on Long Island for several hours.

The crash took place around 7:40 a.m., Thursday, April 2, on Route 109 between Arnold Avenue and East Drive in West Babylon, said the Suffolk County Police.

The man who was killed was the lone occupant of one of the vehicles involved, police said. Police said the man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Two occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, they added.

The crash is under investigation. Additional details were not currently available.
