Man Charged With Fatally Striking Pedestrian With Pickup Truck In Farmingdale, Leaving Scene

A 22-year-old man was charged after investigators reported that he fatally struck a pedestrian with a pickup truck on Long Island and left the scene.

The crash happened in Farmingdale at about 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Suffolk County Police Department reported.

SCPD said Hugo Cuadra, of North Amityville, was driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma north on State Route 110, just south of Route 109, when the Toyota veered off the road and struck a 44-year-old Hector Rodriguez, of Mastic, who was walking on the sidewalk.

Police said Cuadra drove away from the scene.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said. 

Cuadra was arrested at his home at 3:50 p.m. and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, police said.

He is set to be arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 9, police reported.
