Gary Lucas, 66, was arrested around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, July 20, and charged with boating while intoxicated, after crashing into a dock and then flipping the boat, said Southampton Town Police Department Det. Lt. James Kiernan.

Police responded to 370 Ferry Road in Northaven, and found five people were on board the 39-foot-vessel, including Lucas, who was the captain, when the crash occurred, Kiernan said.

Lucas was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook Hospital for injuries to his face and leg.

Two other passengers were transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and treated for their injuries.

The remaining two passengers did not appear to have injuries, Kiernan said.

The investigation revealed that Lucas was allegedly intoxicated while operating his 2018 39-foot vessel, police said.

Lucas was arrested and released at Stony Brook Hospital on an appearance ticket.

He may be facing additional charges.

Also responding to the scene included police officers, detectives, Southampton Town bay constables, Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance and Sag Harbor Fire Department.
