Long Island Woman Struck, Killed By Car

A woman was killed after being struck by a car while she was crossing a Long Island intersection.

It happened on Friday, Jan. 17 at 5:50 p.m. in West Babylon.

Paula James, 60, was crossing Little East Neck Road just north of 12th Street when she was struck by a 2006 Kia traveling northbound on Little East Neck Road, Suffolk County Police said.

James, of West Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.

The driver of the Kia, Ruben Argueta, 55, of Wyandanch, was not injured.

The Kia was impounded for a safety check.
