Long Island Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Sanitation Truck

A Long Island man was seriously injured after being hit by a sanitation truck.

It happened on Friday, Feb. 28 at approximately 7:40 p.m. in Huntington Station.

A Town of Huntington sanitation vehicle, a 1993 International truck, was traveling southbound on New York Avenue, at the intersection of West 11th Street, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway at approximately 7:40 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.

The pedestrian, Guillermo Ramirez, 61, of Huntington Station, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to police. The truck driver was not injured.
