Long Island Man Killed After Being Ejected In Route 27 Crash In Southampton, Police Say

An investigation is underway after a Long Island man was killed in a crash.

The single-vehicle crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Route 27 (Sunrise Highway) in Southampton near County Road 111 (Eastport Manor Road) on Saturday, Nov. 12, New York State Police reported.

Troopers responded to the crash shortly after 3:30 p.m. and found that a 1984 Harley-Davidson, operated by 64-year-old Donald Ellers, of Patchogue, was traveling east in the left lane when it left the roadway, police said. 

The motorcycle traveled into the center median and struck the guide wire, police reported.

Ellers was ejected from the motorcycle and killed instantly, police said.

State Police asked any witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to call 631-756-3300.
