Officers responded to the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station on Monday, Jan. 17, after receiving a report that a vehicle in the parking lot had been stolen from Southampton earlier that day, the Suffolk County Police Department reported.

At about 1 p.m., officers found a 2017 BMW and saw a man get in the SUV and drive away, SCPD said.

Police stopped the BMW near the mall and arrested the driver, who was identified as Claudy Fleury Jr., of Wheatley Heights, authorities said.

Investigators reportedly found that Fleury was in possession of a stolen credit card, and he was wanted for stealing a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Sunday, Jan. 16, from the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, located at 3269 Sunrise Highway in Islip Terrace.

He was also wanted for stealing a 2013 Toyota Camry on Sunday from a parking lot, located on Hewitt Square in East Northport, police said.

SCPD said Fleury was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of third-degree grand larceny
  • Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • Second-degree criminal contempt

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, Jan. 18, SCPD reported.
