Police dogs helped track down a woman who allegedly robbed a Long Island 7-Eleven location at knifepoint on Christmas Eve, police said.

Ronkonkoma resident Heather Lee, 29, allegedly walked into 7-Eleven on Peconic Street in Ronkonkoma and demanded cash from an employee at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, police said. She then took off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to police, a police K9 helped track Lee to her nearby apartment on Peconic Street, and she was arrested shortly before 1:45 a.m. following the investigation into the armed robbery.

Lee was taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery. She was held overnight and scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip later on Tuesday afternoon.
