One of the two women killed in separate boat crashes on Long Island on Sunday, July 14 has been identified.

The crash happened when a jet ski collided with a 35-foot Fountain motorboat at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the Middle Bay waterways, southeast of Parsonage Cove, according to Nassau County Police.

As a result of this collision, Caitlin Rose McDonald, 18, of Rockville Center was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead by a hospital physician. The investigation is ongoing.

The other fatal boating crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m. east of Moriches Inlet, when a 50-foot Sea Ray with three people aboard was traveling westbound a quarter mile off Cupsogue Beach at Cupsogue Beach County Park when it struck a drifting boat broadside with a married couple aboard, Suffolk County Police said.

The man jumped from the boat, and the woman was thrown into the water, according to police.

The woman was pulled from the water by the Coast Guard and taken to the Coast Guard station where she was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The man was rescued by passing boaters and was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.

Both boats were impounded for safety checks.
