ID Released For 73-Year-Old Struck, Killed Crossing Farmingdale Street

Authorities have identified the 73-year-old man who died after being hit by a car while crossing a Long Island street.

Daniel McCarthy, whose hometown was not given, was struck at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, on Hempstead Turnpike in Farmingdale, Nassau County Police said.

Investigators said he was crossing the street just east of West Gate when he was hit by a 2014 Ford pickup truck.

McCarthy was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 57-year-old driver remained at the scene and his vehicle underwent brake and safety checks, police said.

No criminal charges are expected.
