Covid-19: Nassau 21-Year-Old Nabbed For Having Fake Vaccination Cards

A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly having brass knuckles, drugs, and fake COVID-19 vaccine cards when stopped in a high-crime area.

Zachary Honig, age 21, of Levittown, was arrested around 10:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, for the incident which took place in East Garden City, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, the Nassau County Police Department Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team spotted Honig sitting in a gray Mazda with the engine running in a high crime area. 

Officers exited their vehicle while displaying their identification, and Honig immediately got out of his vehicle and slammed the door, police said.

Officers asked for identification and vehicle information and saw a pair of silver-colored brass knuckles when the Honig, opened the passenger side door, police added.

A further search found that Honig was in possession of a  controlled substance, eight pre-filled COVID-19 vaccination record cards, and 54 blank COVID-19 vaccination record cards. 

Honig was arrested and charged with:

  • Eight counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Criminal possession of a weapon
  • Petit larceny
