A convict with multiple prior felony convictions is back in hot water with the law after attempting to illegally purchase shotgun on Long Island, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office announced.

Suffolk County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mastic resident Alfred Dimech, 57, following a lengthy investigation into the attempted purchase of the shotgun at Benson’s Gun Shop in Corman on Saturday, June 29.

According to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Dimech attempted to purchase the weapon, knowing he was prohibited by law from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction in New York for DWI with a previous conviction within 10 years and three prior felony convictions in Missouri.

Dimech was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 30 and charged with attempted criminal purchase of a weapon and offering a false instrument for filing. No return court date has been announced by the Sheriff’s Office.
