Cell Containing 500 Gallons Of Diesel Fuel Stolen From Parking Lot On Long Island

Police are investigating a grand larceny case after a fuel cell was stolen from a parking lot on Long Island.

Police say a fuel cell containing more than 500 gallons of diesel fuel was stolen from the parking lot at Lashley Beach on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach at some point between Monday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 a.m.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Westhampton Beach Police Department detectives say a fuel cell containing more than 500 gallons of diesel fuel was stolen from the parking lot at Lashley Beach on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach at some point between Monday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 a.m.

The tracking number of the fuel cell, which police say weighed more than 6,500 pounds at the time of the theft, is 528TC27. A similar model is pictured above.
