Blaze Rips Through Fire Headquarters In Nassau, Destroying Three Trucks

A fire headquarters on Long Island was severely damaged and three fire trucks and other equipment were destroyed after an early Christmas morning blaze.

The North Massapequa fire department on North Broadway quickly became engulfed in flames after the blaze broke out around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25 and quickly became a three-alarm fire.

The building was unoccupied at the time the fire occurred, Nassau County Police said.

About 150 firefighters with 15 pieces of apparatus from more than a dozen neighboring departments rushed to the scene: Massapequa, Seaford, Bethpage, Wantagh, North Bellmore, Bellmore, South Farmingdale, Farmingdale, East Meadow, Levittown, Plainview, Syosset and Amityville.

North Broadway was closed for hours Wednesday morning.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. 

Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Fire Marshalls responded to the scene.

The fire is believed to be non-suspicious at this time, Nassau County Police said. The investigation is ongoing.
