Gabriel Cabral, of Brooklyn, was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 16, after officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute between Cabral and his mother in Deer Park, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
SCPD said officers received a 911 call about a dispute at 24 West 23rd St. shortly after 7 a.m.
Officers learned that Cabral came to visit his mother's home the evening prior, police said.
Police said Cabral was found standing on the side of the home "covered in blood," and his mother, a 54-year-old woman whose name was not released, was found on the floor.
SCPD said the woman had sustained several stab wounds.
“It’s a horrific incident," Suffolk County Police Chief Rodney Harrison said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
Harrison said police are not aware of a potential motive for the stabbing at this point.
