4 Nabbed In Baldwin Kidnapping, Knifepoint Robbery

Four Long Island residents have been charged in connection with the alleged knifepoint robbery of a 24-year-old man.

The incident took place in Nassau County around 11:55 p.m., on Monday, March 20 on School Drive in Baldwin.

According to detectives, a 24-year-old male victim was in front of a School Drive residence when he was approached by four people that were known to him.

The suspects forced the victim into their vehicle and drove off. Once inside the car, the suspects forcibly took the victim's cell phone and wallet at knifepoint while in the vehicle, police said.

The victim fearing for his life complied and gave the suspects his belongings, police said.

The suspects had the victim exit the vehicle near the intersection of North Main Street and Randall Avenue in Freeport, before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim walked into the Freeport Police station to report the incident.

The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.

After a thorough investigation, Freeport Police located the four at Guy Lombardo Avenue and Southside Avenue, placing them under arrest without incident.

Those arrested included:

Brian Gonzalez Valdez, age 25, of Freeport. He was charged with:

  • Robbery first-degree
  • Two counts of robbery second-degree 
  • Kidnaping
  • Criminal possession of a weapon

Waldi Victoriano Perez, age 23, of Freeport; Edily Durancanela, age 26, of West Hempstead  Alexis Collado, age 39, of Freeport.

They were all charged with:

  • Robbery first-degree
  • Two counts of robbery second-degree
  • Kidnapping
  • Assault

All four were held and will be arraigned on Wednesday, March 22 in Hempstead.
