A Nassau County Police officer saw was on routine patrol in Oceanside and saw smoke coming from the corner of a building on Oceanside Road at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, NCPD reported.

Police said the officer knocked on the front door of the home and helped the three occupants who were in the process of evacuating.

The Oceanside Fire Department extinguished the blaze, authorities said.

Police said no injuries were reported at the scene.

Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Fire Marshals also responded to the scene. 

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
