13-Year-Old Amityville Boy Dies From Injuries After Being Struck By Car On Long Island

A young boy has died from injuries after being struck by a car on a Long Island roadway.

Jose Luis Calderon, of Amityville, was 13 years old.

On Saturday, Oct. 29 at around 9:20 p.m., Calderon was riding a bicycle in Copiague in the right lane of northbound Dixon Avenue, near the intersection of Caboto Avenue, when he swerved into the northbound left lane and was struck by a 2008 Toyota Corolla, Suffolk County Police said.

Calderon was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition. He died late Saturday night, police said.

The Toyota was driven by a 22-year-old Copiague resident, who was not injured.
