Isabel Carella, of Smithtown, was killed in Commack on Wednesday, June 15 when the vehicle she was riding in swerved to avoid another vehicle and hit a Jeep, said the Suffolk County Police.

Also injured in the crash were several other teens, police said.

In a GoFundMe effort to raise funds for her funeral and offset other expenses, more than $73,000 has been raised of a $75,000 goal.

"This news is saddening and unexpected, and we would like to help the family offset the cost of the inevitable expenses during this time," the organizers said.

Her friends knew Isabel as Issie. Issie, a student at Kings Park High School, was a kickline, chorus, and theater member, among other things.

In May, she received the Musical Theatre award for choreographing the dance numbers for the school's spring musical, the GoFundMe said.

In addition, she was a talented dancer with the Sarah Jean Dance Company.

"Issie was preparing for her senior prom and high school graduation later this month. Issie was going to attend Suffolk Community College to further her education," the fund said.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
